2006 World Championships Journal

Introduction

On July 15th 2006, a dream came true as I reached one of my long term bodybuilding goals by winning my weight class at the NPC Team Universe Competition. Winning my weight class at this show gives me the privilege of representing the United States at the World Amateur Championships in the Czech-Republic on October 28th.

The Team Universe was two weeks ago. At that show I felt like I competed in the best shape of my career so far. My plan is to top that conditioning for the World Championships. The week following the show I basically did nothing. I ate when I felt like eating and didn't train at all. In fact I mostly ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and chocolate milk. I thought the mental break would do me good. The next week, I cleaned up my diet (Still had a few sandwiches), and did an acclimation week with the weights. Basically that means I used a about 70-80% of the weight I usually use and did sets of 6 reps. That is what I always do on my first week back, but now that I've had time to recuperate and relax I'm ready to go strong for 13 weeks.

Over these next 13 weeks, I will be documenting everything I do to prepare to go against the absolute best natural bodybuilders in the World. I hope you enjoy the journal and find it helpful to your own training. Questions and comments are welcomed. Just send them to trainer@alltel.net and I'll do my best to answer them as quickly as possible.
